BBQ

Today David and I attempted our first beef brisket. I read quite a few recipes and they all said about the same thing - 1 1/2 hours on the smoker for every lbs of meat. We put a rub on it last night and then put it on the smoker this morning. The temp started to drop on the smoker after about 5 hours so we moved it to the oven for about 3 more hours. It was awesome. The fat layer was easy to remove and the smoke ring was perfect. We will definitely make this again!

Suzie is with David's parents this weekend so we were able to sleep in this morning! Zachy has also been crashing today. He woke up about 8ish, had some breakfast and then went back to sleep for about 3 more hours. We went on some errands, he fell asleep in the car, we got home and he took another nap - from 3:30 until 7:15pm! When he is up he is super active and trying to walk everywhere. He loves to walk behind David and hold onto the back of David's shorts or shirt for support. It is so so cute to watch! You can tell Zachy is SO proud of himself. He will also walk from item to item - as long as he can reach each one with his finger tips. We are still hoping for him to be walking on his own by Suzie's birthday, August 21st.

Right now Zachy is sitting on the floor next to David, placing with the guitar app on my phone and sort of dancing. It is 9:30 but with his long, late nap he is still wide awake. I think he is happy to have some Daddy time all by himself. David isn't usually here at bedtime because of work. When he is here at bedtime it is always with both kids.

We are doing our fireworks tomorrow - first time doing them as a family! So excited!!!
