Today was Zach's Orthopaedic appt to officially get diagnosed with Scoliosis. Fun times. We had to wait over an hour to be seen and then once we were in the room we had to sort of rush off to get a set of x-rays. It ended up taking 3 people to hold Zachy in the correct position and we had to work to keep him in the positions long enough to have a 4th person zap the x-ray. So much for low tone. When the Dr came in he showed us a copy of the x-ray and there is a 27 degree c curve in his lower mid back. Right now we are going to do the "wait and see" method. I am NOT a fan of this method but I think I can handle waiting 3 months to see what happens.
When we got home we laid Zachy down for a MUCH needed nap and took Suzie out to play in the pool. She was SO excited when she spied her "sand box". She didn't really understand why all of us were getting in our bathing suits to play in the sand but she went along with us. When we got out there and she figured out that it was not a sand box and that it was actually a pool she was thrilled. It was a little cold (her teeth were chattering) but she did not want to get out. The pool isn't very deep - when it is to the 'full' line it is only chest high on Suzie - but it is perfect. We stayed in it for about an hour but had to get out when a summer storm moved through.
I had forgotten how relaxing it is to just float on your back and look at the clouds. It was so nice and serene. The serene feeling didn't last too long with a 2 year old around - but it was wonderful for those few seconds.
David also had a massage tonight. There is a new place that just opened up near us and they had a couple different specials running. He was nervous about having a male massage therapist but beggars can't be too picky. When he got home he was so relaxed he had to pour himself into the house. He said it was one of the best massages he had ever had.
Today was basically a back day - Zachy had his back check, I floated on my back, David had his back rubbed and Suzie... well... Suzie is Suzie. :)
