Manners

Today David and I had an appt to go over our finances with a local, independant guy. We arrived promptly on time only to be greeted (rudely) by a secretary with a "Can I help you??" David informed her that we had a 10am appt. Her oh-so-pleasant response? "Oh No You Don't!" Apparently the appt was for Tuesday at 10, not Thursday at 10. I am not sure what happened with the scheduling, I only know that David wrote everything down as he spoke to the guy so I don't see how we had the date incorrect. Also, we have a lot of appts with Zach so we both work had to make sure we keep everything straight. The secretary never offered to reschedule, or any other solutions so we left very quickly.

Our next stop was Target. We wanted to get a pool and they had one for $79 that would be big enough for the kids to move in but shallow enough for Suzie to be able to stand up in. I stopped at the snack bar to get a drink and rang the little ding dong bell thingy, as the sign indicated, and no one ever came to take my order. Sure there were employees standing around all over, sure the store manager walked right past us as we were waiting but I must have been wearing my cloak of invisability. I decided that I could make it another hour before passing out from thirst (I am SO brave) so we went to get the stuff we came for. I decided that I wanted to go look at Walmart because they had a pool for $69 and I was also a little pissy about the poor customer service.

Off we head to Walmart - we couldn't find the pool but I asked someone who worked there and he went to get it for me and was SO nice. We ended up getting the pool, cushions for our deck swing and a few other things.

It is amazing to me what great customer service we had at Walmart. Employees made eye contact with us, said hello, asked if we were finding everything okay, and helped us find stuff when we couldn't. We are working hard on teaching Suzie manners, to say please, thankyou, share and be polite. She isn't a pro at manners yet but she is working on it. Why do we expect a child to be able to ask politely when she wants something, help Zachy when he needs help and to be nice - but not adults?

Oh - we gave Jim, David's dad, his Father's Day gift today and he LOVED it. He actually started tearing up. I made a mug with photos of Jim, his brother John (who is decreased) and their Dad together as they were growing up. I love the different photo products that are available now.

Suzie and Zachy weren't oo impressed with the coffee cup but they were very impressed with the cake. This was my second attempt at pound cake. The first attempt went horribly wrong due to the wrong pan being used. This time the pan I used was correct but I over filled it and over baked it. I think the thrid time will be the charm! Poor David has to suffer through my errors... He is so brave!!

I love these 2 pictures from today. Suzie is giving Z back his necklace and the look on his face is so loving. Now if only she had pants on....
